We are currently seeking a People Manager to join Holroyd Howe’s team. Holroyd Howe are the leading contract caterer specialising in the Independent School market, providing creative, nutritious, high quality food and management services.

We are looking for a motivated individual to help lead the Operational HR structure and who can bring both enthusiasm, technical skill and creativity. This is an exciting opportunity that offers excellent potential for career growth.

A key aim of the role is to work in collaboration with the Operations and Senior Management Teams to provide proactive leadership on all people issues and to support the delivery of the overall long-term business strategy

The role is fun and varied. Key responsibilities will include:

Develop and implement a people and resource plan across defined regions in conjunction with the relevant Operations Director.

Develop and embed a safeguarding culture throughout the region ensuring all operation and location managers have action plans in place to audit and ensure regional compliance.

Develop, and implement recruiting strategies across defined regions to include direct recruitment, job fairs, sourcing, screening and selection.

Develop and coach Line Management to be effective and confident in the delivery of organisational people processes and procedures.

Advise and support the implementation of company policies and procedures.

Lead on employee engagement within your defined regions and support managers to identify and implement actions for improvement.

Work with Operation, Location and Regional Support Managers on employee relations issues including investigation, grievance, absence and disciplinary procedures.

Support Operations Teams in TUPE/client discussions, ensuring the best employee experience for new employees throughout the transition.

Maintain HR activity records, identifying trends of under performance or high levels of employee relations and develop an action plan with the region.

Work with the Operation Director to build a high-performance culture and coach managers on strategies for nurturing talent and people development

Support management with talent identification, development and coaching and the end to end performance review process.

Identify the required training and development requirements across defined regions and develop appropriate plans with the L&D team to address.

Deliver Training and Development interventions as required and work in conjunction with the L&D Manager.

Advise on reward and recognition processes including pay, benefits and retention strategies.

Effectively use organisational HR KPI’s to inform and support decisions which impact and improve business performance.

Manage and deliver People projects as assigned.  

To be considered, you must demonstrate the following qualities and skills:

Knowledge and practical experience of people management processes and procedures including recruitment and selection, performance management, training and development, remuneration and benefits, and employee relations

Demonstrable experience in multi-site/regional People/HR Manager role essential.

Strong generalist People/HR experience with strong commercial awareness.

Experience in a fast-paced environment, retail or hospitality preferred but not essential.

Strong employee relations knowledge and experience including reorganisations and harmonising terms and conditions.

Knowledge and experience of TUPE is essential.

Ideally a knowledge of Safeguarding and Single Central Registers

Skills and Qualifications:

Ability and experience to lead a team of key individuals within the People Team

Ability to develop and maintain effective and productive working relationships across all levels within an organisation

CIPD qualification essential (or relevant experience levels)

Ability to travel based on business needs (3 days a week but some flexibility)

Ability to interpret and analyse data, to ask informed questions and to translate this into strategic HR initiatives/people plans

Strong communication and relationship management skills

Proficiency in Microsoft XL and PowerPoint

Strong planning and organisational skills

An interest in or a passion for great food!
