We are currently seeking a People Assistant to join Holroyd Howe’s team, based at our Support Office in Reading. We are looking for a motivated individual who can bring passion,  enthusiasm and technical skill  to ensure all people processes are followed in a compliant and efficient manner. Key Responsibilities:

Dealing with all administration relating to the recruitment process e.g. offer letters, terms and conditions, proof of right to work in the UK, personnel file creation, three-month review admin and liaising with the Payroll and L&D Manager to share relevant information.

Ensuring all Safeguarding processes are followed and implemented to ensure all employees are recruited safely, specifically:

Requesting references for all managers and support staff, ensuring that these are followed up, filed, and any concerns passed to the People Manager.

Ensuring all employees receive a Children’s Barred List check and raise any concerns immediately to the People & Development Director.

Ensuring all pre-employment checks for are accurately recorded on People Matters in a timely manner;

Ensure all current (renewed) DBS certificates are logged correctly on People Matters for all managers and follow up those which are more than 3 years old.

Ensuring all personnel files are up to date and filing is carried out regularly; ensuring all personal data is correctly filed and stored; closing and storing of leavers’ files.

To support the People Team with ad hoc People related projects

Complete all Safeguarding checks letters as requested by schools.

Other Responsibilities:

Weekly report to OM’s on missing and expired DBS certificate and collate missing DBS number and upload into People Matters.

Producing monthly statistical reports on right to work compliance, zero hours, DBS & Safeguarding checks

Produce people update on monthly basis communicating new schools, joiners, leavers.

Uploading the new starters, leavers and long-service award data onto a secure employee benefits portal

Skills Required:

Knowledge of a HR/People department and HR activities essential.

Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Excel (v lookups and pivot tables), Outlook and PowerPoint and word (mail merging)

Experience in an administration role essential, preferably HR

High attention to detail and data entry accuracy

Experience of customer service role, handling difficult requests

Passionate, confident and positive approach

Team Player, passionate, confident and positive approach

Excellent communication skills – both verbally and written English
