We are currently seeking a People Advisor to join Holroyd Howe’s team. Holroyd Howe are the leading contract caterer specialising in the Independent School market, providing creative, nutritious, high quality food and management services.
To provide first line telephone support and advice for Location Managers and employees regarding all employee relation queries and concerns. Support managers to identify the tools and policies to use and give them confidence in nipping issues in the bud whilst supporting the employee to the best ability..
The role is fun and varied. Key responsibilities will include:
To provide telephone support and advice on employee relations activities across all sites as the first point of telephone/email contact for Location Managers
To manage a busy HR inbox, ensuring that queries are answered and/or referred to the correct person or department promptly
To manage and coordinate the Occupational Health referral process, liaising with managers and the Company’s Occupational Health service provider
To support People Manager in providing safeguarding and safer recruitment advice, complying with KCSIE and Holroyd Howe Safeguarding & Safer Recruitment Policy at all times
Support Managers through checking letters before they are sent out and advising any suggested improvements and recommendations
To ensure managers are aware of the policies, Employee Handbook and HR people tools and that they are used effectively
To ensure all HR people policies are up to date and fit for purpose by regular review and alignment to legislation
To develop new tools where necessary and ensure tools are communicated effectively across the business
To report on employee relations activity and caseload, identify trends and insight for People Manager
Management reporting on ER cases, i.e. number of cases, reasons, trends or patterns. Use the results to make recommendations to upskill Managers and improve the colleague experience
To support colleagues and when required in the TUPE out process and inform People Manager and OPS teams to ensure process is complete
To support People Manager with Employment Tribunal preparations and organisation
To communicate legislative updates in the employee newsletter in a fun and engaging way
To provide cover for the People Assistant during annual leave (i.e. barred list checks, enhanced DBS checks, manager offers, safer recruitment employment cheques and safeguarding letters)
To be considered, you must demonstrate the following qualities and skills:
Knowledge of Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE) on the importance of safeguarding children in an independent school setting is advantageous
Proven experience managing a caseload of complex ER cases
Up to date employment law knowledge required
Previous experience in telephony ER advice role required
Experience of working in a fast paced, high volume and dynamic environment.
Experience in a fast-paced environment, retail or hospitality preferred but not essential.
Skills and Qualifications:
Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships across all levels within organisation.
CIPD qualification essential (or relevant experience levels)
Strong communication and relationship management skills
Strong planning and organisational skills
An interest in or a passion for great food!
Excellent communication skills and ability to explain processes and policies clearly
Advanced Microsoft Word/Excel skills to have the ability to mail merge, V- look ups and pivot tables
Strong employee relations experience
Analytical skills to enable solid reporting and analysis results
To hold or be studying for functional qualification slash membership of associated (e.g. CIPD Level 3 or equivalent advantageous, CIPD Level 5 preferred)
Previous experience in a generalist HR role, having influenced line managers
