15th September 2009 - New Business, New Teams...!
The Perse School, Cambridge is an independent co-educations school for boys and girls aged 3-18, on three separate sites. Children thus progress through three different schools, but have all the benefits of being part of one larger institution with an integrated curriculum and pastoral care system.
The school is preparing for major growth when it becomes fully co-educational in September 2010. This summer saw the preliminary development of the catering facilities in the Upper School, Preparatory School and Pelican in readiness for another 350 pupils next year.
The refurbishment and re-launch of catering services under the new management of Holroyd Howe in September was a tremendous success.
Helen Parkhouse, Deputy Bursar, was delighted with the response from pupils and said:
"After the first day, 8 sixth form pupils made the decision to sign up for school meals – an unprecedented occurrence! Everyone was delighted with the changes to the menu and I have been fielding praise for the improved quality and range of the offer."
Upton House School, Windsor is an independent preparatory school accepting boys from the ages of 2 to 7 and girls from 2 to 11.
The school made the decision to outsource their catering for the first time ever from this September. Holroyd Howe were appointed to support their team in moving from a family style service to a counter service, a key change for children from 3- 11! More choice and active participation by pupils has brought a real buzz and renewed sense of enthusiasm for the lunch time service.
Central Newcastle High School GDST is one of the country's leading schools for girls from nursery at age 3, through to sixth form. They serve a wide catchment area drawing pupils from many different backgrounds. The school is set in three locations.
This gain takes Holroyd Howe to the North East for the first time, managing the school's catering services across three sites. With the specific objective to bring added value, both commercially and qualitatively, new initiatives feature an enhanced grab and go range, revitalised salad offer and a number of fresh, home-baked products. For the 6th Form girls, the café now reflects a more contemporary high street product, which has led to increased sales.
Andrew Clayton, Bursar, comments:
"Holroyd Howe's understanding of our specific needs and issues combined with their professional approach were key factors in their successful appointment whilst at the same time, meeting the commercial requirements of the GDST."
St Christopher's School, Hampstead is an independent day school for approximately 230 girls aged between 4 and 11 years.
We were appointed Holroyd Howe at the start of the new school year to bring fresh ideas, support for their team and new impetus to their services.
The first week's email communication to the school read, "Thank you so much to the new school caterers for a week of wonderful food." "Lunch was amazing!", "Lunch was delicious!" are regular comments. "The homemade soup and meatballs were a great success today."
